Below is a list of our summer activities/promotional events/fundraisers. These events are important fundraisers for the club and it is always a lot of fun getting together with everyone again.

We really need help from everyone for these events to be successful, please let me know the days that you are available as soon as possible so that I can begin putting schedules together. Also, if you would be interested in displaying a sled at St. Germain or Wausau please let me know.

If you need a campsite at the Brush Run or Grass Drags, please let Wayde know as soon as possible so that we have enough room for everyone. wayde@kreagerinsurance.com

New Hatley Race / Pike Lake Resort

After some hard work finding a new location, we have found a race location in Hatley, WI at Pike Lake Resort. The physical address of the resort is 1546 N. Shore Drive, Hatley, WI 54440.

Candy Bar Fundraiser Information

This weekend Dawn (Team AJ 86) will be distributing the candy bars in Hatley. There is several teams that have not yet sold their box for this season. If you are in question if you have or have not, please feel free to email us as we have the list that have, and have not yet done it. If you have and need another box, “Thank You” for stepping up and helping our club.

Please let us know if you want any additional boxes to sell.

Richland Center Event – Cancelled

The 2012 WKSRA season continues to be challenging for the entire group. The unseasonable weather continues to hamper the schedule yet again with the Feb 18th event to be held in Richland Center is cancelled. The entire group in Richland Center continued to work hard the last few weeks to try and keep the ice, but with temperatures way above normal they were forced to cancel. The entire WKSRA board is currently trying to reschedule this event at a location with ample ice. Please check back for updates to check the race schedule to see if the board was successful. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact your WKSRA board members let then know your ideas.

State Championships Registration Info

WKSRA will be headed to Weyauwega on Feb 11-12 for the State Championships and the third and final race in the ‘Race for the Cup’ series. This race event is being hosted by WKCR, please register with them at wkcrsec@yahoo.com – all drivers must be pre registered for this event. The deadline for registration is Thursday, Feb 9th @ 7pm. WKSRA – F1 UPDATE

As most of you already know ISR has suspended the classes of “Beginner F1 and F1″ indefinitely until we can abide by the rules set forth by them. With this being said I want to make you all aware of the position WKSRA will be taking on it.

Effective Immediately: we are informing you that we will NOT be allowing any type of “USE” – practice (before, during or after), racing or any other type of activity involing an F1 with a cleated track where ANY WKSRA race venue event is being held. We are asking ALL teams that have them, to avoid even bringing them to the track to avoid any type of problem with it. Signing any type of waiver to assume risk of using your F1 will not be acceptable! I can’t stress the importance and for your understanding in this matter. I ask all the dad’s of F1 to be positive and help get this problem resolved in a timely matter so that we can find a resolution and get these sleds back on the track.

To keep you up to date on this matter. Greg Childs “Minnesota Dad” will be bring a proto-type of an F1 with a rubber track. Greg is currently putting together a package for the F1′s to update to the ISR rules of a rubber track. All the kids groups are working and communicating together with ISR to get this resolved. Also, ISR is also helping with viable solutions.

Curtis Boivin

As some of you are all aware of Pro Champ driver Curtis Boivin #19B entered the CPTC finals in Beausejour, Manitoba on December 4th just like every other race, focused and determined. He left the race unlike any other he had ever entered and now his fellow racers are pulling together to support all of his recovery efforts.

After a very scary accident, Curtis was airlifted to a Winnipeg hospital where he remains in critical care with head injuries. His condition is slowly improving but it will take years of help to bring Curtis all the way back.

Curtis’s good buddy and fellow Champ racer Nick Van Strydonk knew he wanted to help. Nick went to work designing a special #19B decal that would be sold as a fundraiser with all of the proceeds going to the Boivin family. Nick’s plan has grown into the “Lap of Strength” scheduled to kick off the opening of the Ironwood Pro Vintage Snowmobile Olympus. So with that being said a few of us have came up with our plan on doing the same this weekend in Gleason on both Saturday and Sunday. What the plan is that any team the buys the $5 sticker and displays it on their sled will be allowed on the race track for the national anthem/parade lap in a way to pay tribute to one of our ice racers. For those of you who still need the 19B stickers, Team AJ 86 will have them available Friday afternoon and throughout the entire weekend at the track in our race trailer.
